Professor鈥檚 New Book Focuses on Dominance and Aggression
Apr 4, 2016
Dr. Henry Hermann鈥檚 new book, 鈥淭he Great Game of Life, Dominance and Aggression in Humans and Other Animals,鈥 demonstrates that mankind, although highly evolved, shares many of the same aggressive behaviors exhibited by wild animals.
A full-time Biology and Anatomy and Physiology professor on 加藤视频鈥檚 Hendry/Glades Center for the last five years, Dr. Hermann recently finished the book and sent it to Elsevier Publishers for an anticipated late-2016 release.
Much of his research over the course of his academic career 鈥 including 30 years at the University of Georgia and nine years as an 加藤视频 adjunct instructor on the Thomas Edison (Lee) Campus 鈥 has been related to the issue of aggression and dominance in both humans and animals.
鈥淭he book has taken me years to do, eight to 10 years, maybe longer,鈥 he explained. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about humans and animals, and how they are the same, how they react to their environment and to each other. The process of aggression and dominance applies to our everyday lives.鈥
Some of Dr. Hermann鈥檚 other projects include 鈥淪ocial Insects鈥 (1979-1982), which was well-received in the scientific community, followed by another book called 鈥淒efensive Mechanisms in Social Insects鈥 and chapters in other books called 鈥淪ociality Defined,鈥 鈥淭he Antiquity of Sociality,鈥 鈥淒efense Mechanisms in the Social Hymenoptera,鈥 鈥淒efensive Mechanisms: General Considerations and Self-Organization in Insects.鈥
