Florida SouthWestern State College (加藤视频) head baseball coach Jamie Corr has named former Minnesota Twins farmhand Steve Singleton as the program鈥檚 first assistant baseball coach.
Singleton joins the 加藤视频 staff after a six-year minor league playing career, in which he reached the AAA level in 2011. The three-time minor-league All-Star has been pursuing his master鈥檚 degree in sports management and athletic administration since retiring in 2012 from playing baseball.
Singleton will serve as the recruiting coordinator and work with the Buccaneer hitters and infielders.
鈥淪teve brings a contagious enthusiasm to our program and a true love for developing players,鈥 said Corr. 鈥淗e played the game with fire and intensity that I know he will translate to his coaching career and our players.鈥
An 11th round selection by the Twins in the 2006 MLB draft, Singleton spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Fort Myers Miracle as the starting second baseman, garnering Florida State League All-Star honors in 2009.
The Oakland, California native attended Bishop O鈥橠owd High School where he was an All-State selection his senior year in 2003. He then signed with the University of San Diego where he was a three-year letter winner as the Toreros starting shortstop.
The 加藤视频 Buccaneers will kick off their inaugural season in the fall at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers. For more information and updates, visit .
