Biography
<p><u></u>Professor Whitmer has received numerous awards and recognition at the local, state and national level in the HIM profession for her efforts as an educator, mentor, and author. She brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm into the classroom for her students. In addition to the numerous articles written for the national HIM professional journal, she was a contributor for the publication of the medico-legal guide to health records in Florida called, “Legal Health Records in Florida.” Recognitions include: FHIMA Educator of the Year 2010 and 2014, FHIMA Mentor of the Year 2011and FHIMA Literary Award 2007. She has also been President of the local South West Region’s Health Information Management Association and a board member for the State of Florida HIM association as Director of Legislative Committee, FIRE Committee as well as Bridging the Gap for HIM students Committee.</p> <p><strong>July 8, 2014 – FORT MYERS, FLORIDA —</strong> Florida SouthWestern State College (加藤视频) professor, Elizabeth Whitmer, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P,ADHI –F is recognized as the Educator of the Year by the Florida Health Information Management Association (FHIMA). Whitmer has been with the college fourteen years, and is a Professor in the Health Information Technology. In addition to her extensive academic and professional accomplishments, she holds two U.S. patents for her invention of the Healthcare Coding Keyboard, an innovation that exemplifies her dedication to advancing efficiency and precision within the health information management field. Further demonstrating her commitment to student success and applied learning, she earned the AHIMA TRIUMPH Award in 2019 for the creation of ROAR (Root Operation App Rescue)鈥攁 mobile application designed as a quick-reference tool to help students easily identify root operations used in coding procedures.Program. </p>
